An excellent talk on sexual abuse in shamanic practices in the ayahuasca community by Lily Ross.

“If we can’t have a licensing body (Which I am for!) then I would love to see inter-accountability become more of a driving force. I.e. experienced journeyers and leaders with clinical training and ayahuasca training developing a standard and seal of approval. i.e. a “This shaman is known to rock!” badge, Or something similar to trip advisor where ratings are applied and known retreat centers are profiled by the visitors. At the very least the new young men and women who are still trying to find their “sea legs” in psychedelic practice and/or beginning to listen to their intuitions can assess the safety of a shaman against a wider field of feedback.
We can’t depend on scholars or government to create a working model of accountability for something moving this fast. It feels like we need peer review and ground up self management.”
